ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

AUDITOR/LEAD AUDITOR COURSE

 

This training course is intended for prospective Certification Bodies Auditors, Consultants, Environmental Managers, Supervisors and Administrative staff. It also targets those who wish to acquire complete knowledge of Environmental Management Systems. The approved Certificate of successful completion and the opportunity to register with International Personnel Certification Bodies constitute a professional tool in seeking employment. Experience in Environmental Management Systems is not a prerequisite.

 

The course initially covers the requirements of the NEW ISO 14001:2004 standard, followed by third party auditing techniques. At this point the instruction starts with definitions, examples of compiling nonconformity reports and – through the use of practical exercises – it focuses on training delegates in designing and implementing third party audits. During these practical exercises, instructors simulate the auditing for certification purposes of an imaginary company. The final 2-hour written examination provides delegates with an approved certificate, awarded by the most prestigious international personnel certification bodies.

 

Having completed the course, delegates shall be able to design, develop and implement Environmental Management Systems, identify key environmental aspects and impacts and audit an Environmental Management System for certification against the NEW ISO 14001:2004 standard. This training course has been developed in order to provide a truly complete training in the ISO 14001:2004 standard and Environmental Management System audits according to the ISO 19011 standard in the shortest time possible. Applicants may be private individuals or company executives coming from a wide range of business sectors and company levels.

Delegates will work in groups. Each member of the group presents the aim and the processes of his/ her company. The team chooses one company and documents the Environmental Policy according to ISO 14001 Requirements.

Delegates will work in groups and will be given a scenario and will be required to carry out an exercise on the identification of environmental aspects in order to do the evaluation – assessment of environmental impacts.

Delegates will work in groups and will be asked to identify documentation (records, forms, documents and procedures) which is required to verify compliance with ISO 14001 clauses.

16:30 Hrs Team Exercise: Document Review
The delegates will be given procedures and will be required to review the procedures for compliance with ISO 14001. Delegates will be asked to identify which ISO 14001 requirements Environmental Procedures and which requirements are not satisfied. The delegates will be asked to define which information is required in order to ensure the compliance with ISO 14001 requirements.

Every delegate will be given a scenario and will be asked to define key – points which will be examined further, during performing the audit.

Delegates will work in groups. Every delegate will be asked to describe his/ her company’s aim and basic processes. The team will be asked to choose one company and document the audit plan, based on:
a. The information about the company.
b. ISO 14001 requirements.
c. ISO 19011 requirements.

Delegates will work in groups and will be given a scenario and will be required to define the objective evidence, that they will ask to see during the audit performance, in order to ensure the compliance with specific clauses of ISO 14001.
The tutor will define the clauses for each team.

Delegates will be given a series of scenarios and will be asked to identify where they feel that nonconformities or observations are present against the requirements of ISO 14001 and document their findings in a written report.

Delegates will work in groups and will be asked to identify areas within the case study where they feel that non conformities are present against the requirements of ISO 14001 and document their findings in a written report. They will be asked to present their report during the “closing meeting” of the audit.
